MNB Challenge - Believe ( and nourish recap)

So I've decided to do an overall recap of Week 3 and Week 2 as my last weekend was super busy but I still really want to recap how awesome this challenge was!

Week Three of the MNB Challenge was focused on BELIEVE.  Believing in yourself, your abilities and your goals is so soo important. I struggle at times with this but it is something I am constantly practicing. Whenever i have doubt I just remind myself of all the amazing things I have already achieved with a positive mindset and a bit of hard work. You have to want to put in the hard work to achieve your dreams because they are exactly that; YOUR dreams! No one else is going to do it for you, but that is exactly what makes it all the more rewarding!

So here's the recap via my insta: Happyhealthyspirit
Monday: Spoil youself! - So on my first day of Uni my little treat to myself was only my favourite food in the whole wide world... PANCAKES! Healthy versions of course ;)

Tuesday: 5 mindful minutes - So I was rather lucky in the fact that my 5 mindful minutes for today was easily fitted into my routine. I go to a performing arts school and on my second day we started the morning off with a huge group session of yoga and meditation. It was so much fun and really makes me want to get started up doing yoga! However I wont have to find a class if we continue to do this for our morning warm up!

Wednesday: Show us your happy place - So I originally I had already decided I was going to post a picture among nature because it makes me feel so grounded and in awe of the beauty that surrounds us. However, I had  a really really crappy day on wednesday, I think I was just a little over tired which made me overly sensitive. So all I wanted to do was have a super early night, snuggled up with a cup of tea and a book underneath my beautiful fairy lights. I also had a nice relaxing bath too. I was happy :)

Thursday: What are your greatful for? - Today I was really grateful for the simple things such as this awesome sunshine we have had all week!

Friday: Your number 1 motivator - The credit here goes to my lovely boyfriend. He's living overseas at the moment but still his sheer determination for his goals keeps me motivated to stay on track with mine.

Week Two: NOURISH

I the past two years I have really taken a strong interest in the importance of what goes into your body. I have always been fairly healthy but now I am learning about how important it is to make food your medicine and not your poison. The easiest food lifestyle choice for me is just eating clean and balanced meals. I'm really excited to establish more of a routine with my eating as now I am back at uni I can eat more regularly having breaks for morning tea and lunch rather then when I was working full time.

Monday: Meatless monday - I decided to make African Black-eyed bean soup from my adored Dr.Libby Real Food Chef Cookbook. Definitely a future favourite of mine, It was delicious!

Tuesday: Take your lunch to work with you - So technically I wasnt at work that day but I took a pic of my lunch anyway, Chia Pudding! Just a wee bit chuffed at my beautiful presentation too.. Haha.

Wednesday: What I Ate Wednesday - A picture recap of all the lovely foods I ate today. I decided to make a mango and shrimp salad (above left pic) from my Lorna Jane diary. If you have the diary, definitely recommend you try it!

Thursday: Green Smoothie - Today I made a mango, kale, celery smoothie with coconut water. This was my first time having celery in a smoothie. Not to keen on the flavour of celery but I'm teaching myself to like it by adding it to more of my foods.

Friday: Go Raw! - For breakfast it was a rock melon and apple fruit salad topped with yoghurt and for lunch, a huge power bowl salad.

This challenge was such a fun experience and surprisingly easy to stick too. I loved how it focused on all aspects of health (MNB) and taught me how important this balance of moving, nourishing and believing really is.
Thank you so much to Fit Approach and Lorna Jane for organizing such a great February challenge.

MNB February Challenge! Lets get the ball rolling...

So this month or should I say this year, with the inspiration of my Lorna Jane MNB diary I have made a commitment to live the Lorna Jane active living motto and move nourish and believe! the February comp sponsored by Fit Approach and Lorna Jane teaches us to move nourish and believe as each week of this month focuses closely on each of the three aspects.

Week one was focused on MOVE, so here's my recap via my instagram @happyhealthyspirit:

Monday: Sweat it out - Show us your favourite way to sweat! Being outdoors, breathing in fresh air and taking in breath taking views has such a calming and grounding feeling, making it easily my favourite way to sweat. Although, a lot of my workouts are at the gym I always make sure to fit in some time during my week getting some proper fresh air, so this is how I decided to start my Monday!

Tuesday: Change it up - Sweat a new way!
I used this link via the Lorna Jane MNB website which gave me lots of inspiration and ideas of new ways to move. I decided to try out yoga, which is something I've always been curious to try so cheers to this challenge for giving me that push. Thoroughly enjoyed and actually looking to find some beginner classes in my hometown this year - Embracing change is actually one of my mottos for 2014! I'm starting at university this year after a gap year of just working and I've also had to face the challenges of a long distance relationship as my baby left for the US in January. Oh, and I recently decided to get a dramatic change in haircut too, embracing change is nothing to fear! :)

Wednesday: Lets get planking - plank for 5mins today!

Ughh, what a killer haha! This actually used to be my favourite fitness move in highschool, however not so much now!  Had to break up the 5mins into sets of 1 min throughout the day but I am keen to make this an ongoing challenge :)

Thursday: Buddy up - Workout with a friend today!

My usual workout buddies are either my bf (away) or my mum (who is taking a couple weeks out from the gym due to an leg operation) so I decided to go to my usual morning weights class which is a group session. Working in a group inspires me to work harder and have fun whilst doing it!

Friday: Show us your five fitness favourites!
- My MNB Lorna Jane Active living diary which got me drawn into this challenge in the first place!
- Nature! Like I said earlier, there is nothing more calming and grounding then working out amongst its beauty.
- Hydration. I'm equally in love with my morning green smoothies and water.
- Dr Libby books. These books are my go to for keeping me on track and inspired on my health journey.
- Music! When it comes to working out nothing pushes me harder than a pumping track. It actually got me through the last leg of my run on Sunday! Thank you Beyonce!!

What a great week it has been,

Next week pushes us to get creative in the kitchen whilst learning to NOURISH our bodies!
